Island hopping across the Strait
It isn't uncommon for parents to take their children to their country's capital city during school holidays, but I have been reflecting that perhaps our recent trip has elements of the unusual. Initially I thought this blog post would be about Windy Wellington ; what we experienced and some city history etc. However, I soon recognized that I'd skim over a significant aspect - the getting there via ferry across the Cook Strait, considered one of the most dangerous and unpredictable waters in the world! Thankfully our crossing was on a calm day which allowed us to appreciate the beautiful scenery as we left the port! Sunrise View from our ferry before we departed S. Island. The Sounds A few days later wild weather lashed the Strait and the ferries were cancelled. We were thankful to be home by then! Have you any sea travel experiences to share?
